Ellen Maze’s Inspirational vampire book Rabbit: Chasing Beth Rider ranked #1 at Amazon in the Kindle bookstore category “Mystery & Thrillers.” It also ranked #1 in two other categories: “Horror” and “Occult.” and in the top five in the “Fantasy” category.

How did she do it? Can you do it too?

.

What the Top Ranking List IS NOT?

There are so many Amazon LISTS that vie for customer attention. The “Top Ranking” list that featured Ellen’s book is a readers choice list and is separate from:

Find out From Ellen What the Top Ranking List IS?

Many authors aren’t familiar with the Top Ranking engine at Amazon. We know that this list called “TOP RATED” has nothing to do with sales.

  • You don’t have to sell any books to be a Top Rated author in anycategory(ies).
  • So exactly how does an author obtain this important rank?
  • What statistics does Amazon use to create these lists?
  • And how does using social media enter in?

.

How can you become a Top Rated reader’s choice Amazon author too?

Ellen reveals it all in this exclusive live interview.

  1. I can’t believe how much great info Ellen Maze gave to authors about promoting their books yesterday on the radio show. Be sure to click the link, above, to the show and listen in!

  2. Nanci Arvizu says:

So exciting! Thanks Rachel for the input. You are asking the exact question we’ll be discussing with Ellen during our upcoming interview at PAC Radio.

  3. Thankx for stopping by, Rachel. Those are great questions. Ellen will try to stop by and comment. And we’ll be sure to ask her in her live interview March 4th. Hope you can be there for that.

My 2 cents: I think most authors make their social media mistake by putting up sites and profiles and fan pages, etc. that just talk about them and their books. Yes, when you get followers they want to know all that too, but it’s important to share all kinds of news and articles and just anything that might contribute to the general topic surrounding you book’s genre.

Also, you’re right that a majority of followers might be other writers (we read more than the general public) so if you’ve learned something as an author, share it along with the link to an article you wrote about that. Most of my sales are from other authors.

Oddly enough, Ellen inspired to post about the whole philosophy powering our promotional efforts. You can check it here. It might apply to some of your questions. http://www.promotionalacarteblog.com/2011/02/definition-of-author-publicity-ellen-maze/

I’m excited hear your getting so much help from one of our groups. (Have you subscibed here too? — you’ll get tons more of the same kind of help.)

Hope my 2 cents helped a little.

  4. Rachel Lynne says:

    Hi Aggie,
Loved Ellen’s interview with Bookbuzzr! Would really, really love to know how she gets friends on FB and whether or not she finds fan pages necessary. I have a regular page in my author name and a fanpage and am not really seeing the point. Almost all of my friends on FB are other authors, (or friends and family) How do I build my FB friends?

On another note, I joined the PAC group on Goodreads (I’ve been a member there for awhile but have no idea how to use it, but I’m learning-thanks to your group!) In one evening I transformed my amazon author page and learned a ton of great things on how to make amazon work for me: great stuff! Thanks for all you do!

    • Ellen C Maze says:

      Hi Rach!

Thank you for checking out my Bookbuzzr interview! I’m glad it was helpful. I have had great success getting folks jazzed up enough about my books to join my group and participate. I have 850 folks in there now, and about 100 are active regularly. Why don’t you email me at ellenmaze@aol.com so I can help more. I have some strategies that I’d be happy to share. Also, I’ll join your FB page, so let’s connect on Facebook. If we already have, slap me gently, and say “hello”.

      Hugs to you!
      Ellen
